KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 (Bernama) -- The National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting held today reviewed the impact of the global energy crisis, with the main focus on protecting the people and ensuring the security of the country’s strategic supplies.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said efforts to curb leakages and smuggling would continue to be strengthened through tighter supply chain monitoring and the integrated implementation of Ops Tiris 4.0 involving various enforcement agencies.

“The MADANI Government also prioritises the security of medicine and medical device supplies through centralised stock monitoring, diversification of import sources and emergency plans to ensure critical needs are always sufficient,” he said in a Facebook post.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said that in the long term, the government would strengthen strategic buffer stocks, develop local industries and formulate a comprehensive policy through MyMedSecure.

In addition, he said MTEN reviewed haj operations involving 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims, with priority given to their safety and welfare.

Anwar said the MADANI Government would continue to act in an orderly and responsible manner to manage the crisis effectively while ensuring the people were protected and the country remained resilient.
