LAOS 

1. LAO WORKERS' REMITTANCE REACH NEARLY RM1.5 BILLION -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Lao migrant workers have remitted about RM1.5 billion (US$366 million) in the first six months of this year. Nearly 350,500 Lao nationals are working abroad. Most of the money was transferred through the country’s banking system. 

 

2 . VIETNAM-LAO DEEPENING DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

Vietnam and Loa are strengthening information technology, digital infrastructure development and digital connectivity. Digital infrastructure is crucial for connectivity to both countries, besides road, air and other economic linkages. 

 

MYANMAR

1. BELARUS PRESIDENT’S VISIT WARMS UP DIPLOMATIC TIES  -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR  

Belarus President Alexander Gregoryevich Lukashenko arrived in Myanmar yesterday to strengthen the 26-year-old bilateral relations.

 

2. OVER 8,500 PRISONERS GRANTED AMNESTY -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The National Defence and Security Council has granted amnesty to 8,665 prisoners ahead of the December 28 general elections. The move is to allow all eligible voters to cast their votes freely.

1. PBBM, ASEAN SECRETARY GENERAL TACKLE PH PREPS FOR 2026 CHAIRSHIP -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn at Malacañan Palace in Manila on Thursday to discuss the Philippines’ preparations for hosting the regional summit in 2026.
