KOTA BHARU, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The Immigration Department in Kelantan has detained 62 undocumented Myanmar nationals in an integrated operation in the Lojing highlands, Gua Musang, which took place from yesterday (Nov 19) till early today.
Its director, Mohamed Yusoff Khan Mohd Hassan, said inspections found 61 men and one woman suspected of violating immigration laws.
He said all detainees were taken to the Tanah Merah Immigration Depot for further investigation under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
According to him, the operation, which began at 8 am, involved 60 officers of various ranks from the Kelantan, Terengganu and Putrajaya Immigration departments.
“The Immigration Department urges the public to continue channelling information related to undocumented migrants or any unlawful activities involving foreigners. The department will not compromise and will take firm action against any party that shelters, facilitates or abets migrants,” he said in a statement today.
