JAKARTA, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s incoming ambassador to Malaysia, R.M. Iman Hascarya Kusumo, said protecting the country’s migrant workers will be one of his top priorities when he assumes office.
Appointed by President Prabowo Subianto on October 8, he said existing mechanisms would be improved, especially coordination between agencies in both countries to safeguards workers’ welfare even before they depart for Malaysia.
“The framework is already there, but it can be strengthened,” he said as quoted by Radio Republik Indonesia.
Iman plans to work with agencies in both countries to reinforce health protections, including pre-departure medical-checks support.
Iman, a non-career diplomat, had previously served as deputy treasurer of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team during the 2024 presidential election.
