Man Arrested, Methamphetamine Worth Over RM117,000 Seized

SIBU, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- A total of 3,094.69 grams (g) of methamphetamine worth RM117,598.22 were seized in two separate raids here on Wednesday, Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said.

A man, 57, was also arrested during the first raid at a house in Lorong Rejang Park, where 2,055.85 g of methamphetamine was seized.

“Based on interviews and guidance by the suspect, the police raided a courier service centre along Jalan Maju and seized 1,038.84 g of methamphetamine,” he said at a media conference here today.

The suspect, who has three prior criminal records, also tested positive for amphetamine dan methamphetamine, he said, adding that the suspect had acted as a runner and a store caretaker for a drug trafficking syndicate in Sibu that has been active since April.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
