SHAH ALAM, Dec 26  -- The Fourth Battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF) from Semenyih arrested seven illegal immigrants at Jalan Masjid, Kampung Sungai Serdang, Kapar, at around 10.30 am, yesterday.

Its Commanding Officer Rizal Mohamed said four of them were men from Indonesia, aged between 25 and 63, while three were Myanmar women, aged between 15 and 22.

"All those detained failed to produce any valid travel documents. The three women also admitted that they had just arrived from a neighbouring country by boat and landed on the shores of Sungai Serdang, here,” he said in a statement here.

Rizal said all of them had been taken to the Kapar Police Station in Klang North for further action under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and would undergo COVID-19 screening.

Meanwhile, in KALABAKAN, Sabah, four illegal immigrants from Indonesia including a woman and baby looking to cross the border to return to their country were detained by the Malaysian Armed Forces in the Serudong area.

Fifth Infantry Brigade Commander Brig Gen Zambery Jefry Darus said the immigrants aged between seven months and 48 years did not carry any personal identification documents with them and had been in the country since early this year to look for jobs in the agricultural sector.

“However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they did not get any opportunity and were looking to return to Indonesia," he said, adding that they were expelled from the country’s borders before a police report was lodged over the matter.
